The Introduction to the Piano programme is a new initiative of Playright Music Ltd. which is directed by Daniel Walsh M.A. Daniel was awarded an honours masters degree in music from DCU for his research and thesis on a specific area of music technology applied in music education - designing, building and assessing original software to support the teaching and learning of chord progression in music.
Daniel has more than 35 years experience as a music teacher. He has more than 25 years service as an examiner of music practicals for the Dept. of Education and Skills. Since 2009 he has been the Chairman of the Kodály Society of Ireland and director of its annual professional development course for musicians and teachers, Active Music Making: the Kodály Approach. He has served as chairman of the Irish Accordion Association and is a co-founder of the Irish Institute of Accordion Studies.
Daniel is founder and Artistic Director of Piano Sparks, the summer course for aspiring pianists.
Daniel is experienced as a performer and has contributed to many live concerts and broadcasts on stage, radio and television for RTE and BBC and has often performed with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra in the National Concert Hall, Dublin.
Daniel founded Playright Music Ltd. and this year celebrates 30 years as managing director.
